Support for Carers

There are many sources of help and support for carers of those touched by dementia. Some of them are listed below.

Carers Directory

We know that carers sometimes find it difficult to get the support they need and to know who to contact. This directory is a comprehensive listing of services for carers of all ages and includes information on self-help groups, telephone helplines, advocacy, social support and many other services.

The directory has been produced by GVS in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Cardiff Council, Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC) and Cardiff & Vale University Health Board.

Carers Factsheets produced by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Cardiff Council, provide a wide range of information about various topics such as money matters, legal matters, getting help from social services, transport, getting help in hospital and many other topics.

Services for Older People

This directory, produced by Glamorgan Voluntary Services, contains information about services which can support older people and carers. It lists services in alphabetical order by type of service, eg advocacy, befriending, lunch clubs, shopping.
