Who are we?
Barry is a welcoming and vibrant town that includes a network of local businesses, organisations, community groups and local champions that keep the needs of people affected by dementia a priority, through providing information, support and special activities and events. A number of businesses have also gained ‘Working to become Dementia Friendly’ recognition with Alzheimer’s Society and their staff and volunteers have participated in information sessions to become Dementia Friends, so that more people can recognise, understand and support the needs of their customers and staff who are affected by dementia.

What do we do?
The following activities are run by Age Connect in Barry at
38, Holton Road, CF63 4HD (Tel: 01446 747654)
Knit & Natter, Tai Chi, Bingo and Information Days. See the "What's On " section for dates and timings.
Who we are: Ty Hapus CIO
Ty Hapus is an independent CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). This means we work completely independently as a charity in the third sector. We have been in existence since 2011, so we are entering our 10th and 1st year of operation simultaneously in 2021.
Ty Hapus offers a small-scale and comfortable ‘Home from Home’ Day Support Service in our beautiful premises in Barry for up to 10 people living with dementia per day. Ty Hapus is known as a service of support to people diagnosed with Young Onset Dementia. We, in fact, have always also supported people over the age of 65 too, with no upper age limit. We regard each person as our guest for the day.
